BioMaybe I will finally write Ashes to Ashes. Maybe I will not. Maybe it will be retitled The Last Word. Maybe it will not. I make no promises, other than that I will post whatever pieces of it I end up writing here.
This journal was briefly devoted to the posting of my Monday Microfiction, very short stories based on the text provided in each Friday's A Softer World. However, I quickly realized it was easier to create a community (![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif)
mondaymicrofic), and so I did that instead -- leaving this journal to lie dormant once more.
I planned to post the installments of my 2003 NaNoWriMo novel, Ashes to Ashes, but I only made it about a thousand words in before I realized that I didn't want to NaNoWri NaNoMore. I find that I vastly prefer writing short stories to novels; I like the compact form, I like the ability to hold the entire idea in my head at once, I like being able to scrap it if it's no good without feeling like I've wasted an enormous amount of effort. But maybe that's all a fancy way of saying that I don't have the dedication to sit down and write 50,000 words.
The Surreal Adventures of Bob, the original purpose of this journal, was a short series of stories about a businessman named Bob and the strange things that happen to him in everyday life. There wasn't any real point to them; I was just writing freely to see if anything interesting came of it. Sadly, a short attention span on my part ended Bob before his time. Perhaps it will be resumed at some point.
